"The Power To Achieve"
A great success! Thank you!
Did you know that in Canada over 40,000 people die each year from sudden heart attacks in a population of approximately 31,000,000?
Did you know over 90% of these can be prevented with a simple blood test and an EKG Stress test?
Did you know they are painless and non-invasive and can be done in a clinic in case you are afraid of hospitals?
Heart disease doesn't have to be a serious problem and can be avoided with a good diet, regular exercise, weight control (great for lowering your blood pressure), and most important, prevention. The average blood pressure is 120/80, over 140 is considered to be borderline high and should be checked frequently.
There is a condition called "white coat syndrome" which means your blood pressure taken at a doctor's office can be a "bit high" only due to the fact being in a doctor's office is sometimes nerve racking to the patient . Your blood pressure should be checked a few times by your Doctor before he, or she, can tell you the mean average.
There are NO symptoms to high blood pressure and without angina (chest pain) there really are no symptoms for "clogged Arteries either" which I found out the hard way and this is an important fact. Take it from me, I ALMOST became a statistic. No pain, no symptoms what's so ever, but preventive care caught this problem in time thanks to www.cardiogenix.ca here in Montreal!
This story is not about me but for you! We are getting older, we are getting smarter, and Cardiology can do wonderful things in this day and age. It's not doom and gloom at all as most of us think. I want you to come to my pages every year safe and sound. Get a check up do the right thing for your family if not for yourself. With prevention heart disease is not a killer, but rather a small bump on life's road.
I recently participated in a breakfast seminar with some associates, clients and friends where the guest speaker was Dr. Oommen from the Cardiogenix Medical Centre in Montreal. He is a very dynamic and animated speaker who presented the topic of "Health is Wealth, De-stress for Success" and he had us all motivated to follow his advice and lead healthier, stronger, longer lives.
We were left, however, feeling inadequate trying to be as effective as he was at passing the message on to family, friends and employees. Employees are a particular challenge. Some participants spoke of their frustrations with various programs, large investments and a great deal of time and effort with very marginal results for their staff. Only a few had lost weight or stopped smoking, even with financial rewards or other incentives.
Dr. Oommen seemed to agree that making real progress needs constant attention. Continuous communication, support and encouragement, measuring and rewarding results will all be required before momentum is created and new habits become established.
Nevertheless, it is worth the effort. Everyone wins.
The Doctor's name is Ashok Oommen and he is an emergency room specialist and now runs Cardiogenix, a health centered preventive medicine clinic. They do executive health, cardio, diabetes, safe exercise, weight loss, women's health programs tailored to your needs. They do a 6 hour evaluation complete with differential blood pressure, complete blood analysis with lipid fractionation, full systems analysis, full body skin exam, flexibility testing, full cardio stress testing (they make you sweat) and a diet analysis with a nutritionist. You follow up with a consultation which may take up to 2 hours. A bit better than the usual 10 minute exam we get.
It's all about life style. Although I sometimes feel like I am living a health centered lifestyle based solely on attitude, I truly believe that it is the behavior choices we make every day that will determine how long and strong we live. Cardiogenix will help you with these choices.
